Guwahati: Union Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan reviewed the progress of capping activities of inferno at gas producing well of Oil India Limited (OIL) in Baghjan in Tinsukia district.
OIL stated that air quality monitoring was conducted in Baghjan and Guijan side and noise monitoring was conducted in Guijan Side. Sample of surface water and sediment from Dangori River were collected for analysis. Soil sample from Dibu- Saikhowa National Park (DSNP) was also collected. The team from ERM also conducted consultation with forest guards of DSNP and villagers of Erasuti village. Ecological survey within DSNP was also carried out by them. The study will be continued till one week beyond the date of capping the well successfully.
The company added, “Sample collection for monitoring of air quality and noise level is in progress for analysis. Recording of data at already installed analysers is in progress. Aerial survey of affected areas was carried out using drone fly camera on 6th & 7th July, 2020. Debris clearance as a part of site preparation for bio remediation job is being carried out along the roadside from the blow out well towards Maguri Beel”.
OIL said that all arrangement for deluge water supply completed. All three ONGC CMT Pumps are in operation. OIL CMT pumps are also ready for delivery. Fabrication and connection of additional fire water monitors are in progress. Fabrication of distribution manifolds to be connected between delivery lines and fire water monitors are completed and the same are to be placed.
Road blockade from Baghjan EPS to Blowout well was lifted after discussion with Deputy commissioner Tinsukia . However, twelve numbers of producing wells of Baghjan EPS are still shut in due to protests.
Due to stoppage/blockades, there was production loss of 304 MT of Crude Oil and 0.94 MMSCM of Natural Gas as reported on 07-07-2020. Operations were disrupted in 11 Oil wells & 05 gas wells. Cumulative production loss since 27th May, 2020 due to bandhs and blockades: 9504 MT Crude oil, 12.91 MMSCM of natural gas.
Effort is on to kill the gas producing well which blew out on May 27 and on June 9 it exploded into a massive inferno.
