Oil India Limited(OIL) said on Saturday that well-head and well plinth have been made ready for well control operation at Baghjan oil well in Tinsukia district.The capping Blow out preventer (BOP) stack with kill lines has been tested successfully.
The Baghjan Oil blowout incident crossed 74th day on Saturday but still, the fire has been continuously coming out from the affected site.Baghjan 5 oil well rig was a high-pressure oil well in upper Assam and after the mishap, the entire biodiversity was affected and the local people have to left their homes to save themselves.
However, OIL, ONGCL, six experts from Singapore based fire Alert Disaster Control has been working hard to douse the fire.The work has been hampered due to the constant wave of flood. The recent wave of flood has affected the work which delayed the whole work.
“Flood has become a hurdle in front of us because back to back flood has affected our work. We have stalled our work due to the flood,” said an official.“Assembling of Athey Wagon has been completed with the newly fabricated axle, modified Boom sections and with other accessories. After rig up, load testing of the complete Wagon is planned for today,” said an OIL statement.
On the other hand, treatment of well-killing fluid is underway. Water Deluge System is ready for supporting all operations.Safety systems are also in place. All efforts are being taken to control the well at the earliest.
The total number of families surveyed for assessment of damage for compensation till Friday in Doomdooma and Tinsukia Circle is 2739.Meanwhile, Oil and Gas Production still continues to be affected due to forceful closure of few Oil and Gas wells connected to Baghjan EPS.
Drilling and workover operation also continue to be affected at few of the locations due to forceful closure of operation.
