Baghjan Fire Update: PM Modi took stock of the progress of the dousing effort

While massive effort is on to douse the roaring fire and cap the gas well head at Baghjan by Oil India Limited, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today took a stock of the progress in this regard and also expressed his concern towards its affected people.

Prime Minister Modi had a conversation with Assam Chief Minister, Sarbananda Sonwal today for reviewing the same along with flood and COVID scenario of the state too. He has assured to provide all supports that may required to deal with all these issues.

Oil India Limited authorities have stated that the final operation to cap the well which will commence in the next few days.A major fire had broken out on 9th June at the OIL well that were spewing gas and condensates since May 27 due to a leakage.

Incessant rains and resultant flooding of the areas had hampered the capping operations last week. The Indian Army, in this regard has contributed significantly, amidst inclement weather, making the path easy for the fire fighters.
